Ene Mother Sun

Goddess Icons Spirit Banners of the Diving Feminine

Lydia Ruyle, 2009

In the beginning there was Ene Mother Sun, a radiant solar deity of the Altaic and Tungus northern Eurasian people. Life and warmth stream from her. She provides the conditions for life. Ene is carved on a stele from the area of Okunevo in Siberia that dates to the Neolithic. The figures on both sides may be growing plants of snakes that function as spirit helpers to Siberian shamans as symbols of generating and regenerating life.
