Winter Solstice 2018 Altar

Seasonal Salon WS 200018

It has been a tough year. Well actually, it’s been a very tough two years. Coming around the bend towards this Winter Solstice, I have found myself bracing my hands forward demanding all my power to STOP! Everything just STOP! Realizing that the powers of “ All That Is” sanctions my demands since Solstice’s meaning is to stop the sun or hold stationary for a moment in our sights. I will not take up your sacred time to list all of that which has called out my righteous rage and unleashed a torrent of sorrow. I have sat circle and witnessed my Sisters’ own good reasons for not wanting to get up and go out into the world. And they do! Every brilliant and beautiful One of You! After speaking our truth about battle fatigue and depression and anger and ptsd, I watch each one of us stand tall and strong, gripping our shields as we storm forward into the onslaught of patriarchy. Ferron speaking the radical truth, “We are always off to war, my friends, always off to war.”

So, I could not offer any particular hopeful altar for this Winter Solstice. Goddess did send me this one though for each of you. Hopefully, this altar of your Ancestors standing ready for you and eager to receive it all from you, can bring a moment of peace. It is into this Ancient Crone and Hag Wisdom, that I lay down my sword and raise my arms to receive Their understanding and compassion and perhaps even more importantly, Their guidance. For it is only They who can offer succor and solace.

This altar lays on the ground and has dirt for the back drop and river sand creating the Ancestors bodies which were inspired by Sami images. Glitter of Moon Light to bring out their Crowns while the Wheel turns above them and encircled with the 7 Sisters Pleiadian blue. The Circle of Stones to represent the Wheel of the Year.

May Peace and Pleasure reach each of us on this Winter Solstice/Mother’s Night!
